Thank you for reading this letter and considering us as parents for your precious baby. While we don’t know your name or your face you have been on our mind and our hearts for months now. We have been praying for you and your baby every day and are so thankful that you have chosen to give this gift to a family. We can’t even begin to understand the enormous sacrifice that you are making but we want to thank you for your courage and for your love for the life growing inside of you.
Our names are Ryan and Grace and we have been married for 7 years. Ryan is an engineer for Halliburton and Grace is a small animal veterinarian. We live in the country but only 40 minutes from downtown OKC and we consider this the best of both worlds. We have 1 dog and 1 cat and 13 chickens that we are crazy about. While Ryan is an Oklahoma native, Grace grew up in Nevada and moved to Oklahoma in 2008 to attend OSU, which is where we met. Our favorite activity together is going to the lake and we love spending time with friends and family on our big yellow boat. We absolutely love to travel and explore new places and are currently trying to visit all the National Parks in the US. We are very involved in our church, Grace sings in the choir and praise team and Ryan plays the bass guitar and we enjoy mentoring the youth group. We began trying to have a baby 3 years ago and have had a very difficult time. We have 3 precious babies in heaven that we look forward to meeting someday. This incredible loss has brought us closer together as husband and wife. We had always talked about adoption as a someday possibility as Grace has 2 adopted brothers but God simply moved up our timeline.
We both have big families and spend lots of time with them and we especially love our 7 nieces and nephews. Grace’s family is spread out all over the US but we all get together frequently for holidays and for our annual house-boating lake trips. Ryan’s family all lives locally and we are often found 10 minutes away at his parent’s house enjoying their pool. While we both currently work full time, Grace plans to primarily stay home with the baby and work 1-2 days per week.
You are such an important person in our child’s life and we want our child to grow up knowing where they came from and how much you loved them. We are open to visits and regular emails with updates and photos. While we know that’s not what every birth mother wants, we want you to be comfortable. We plan on talking with our child about you and praying for you regularly with them. We are so thankful for your love for your child. While we can’t begin to understand the sacrifice that you are making, our journey has also been filled with a huge amount of loss and grief. We would not have made it through without our wonderful network of supportive friends and family. We want to be there for you through this incredibly difficult time to encourage you, to pray for you and to love on you.
We really can’t say it enough, but thank you again for what you are doing. Thank you for being a strong and courageous inspiration for your baby.
Ryan and Grace
